PIAB, a global leader in industrial vacuum technology, will showcase its newest innovations to help manufacturers increase the energy efficiency and productivity of their packaging lines at PACK EXPO International 2008, November 9-13, 2008 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. At its booth (N-4357) PIAB will highlight its new P5010 vacuum pump featuring patented COAX® multistage ejector technology and new solutions for bag handling applications.

With unique sealing properties, PIAB’s bag handling technologies improve process reliability and decrease downtime and waste caused by dropped and damaged products. New additions to PIAB’s BL4 and BL5 line of suction cups for bag handling applications allow for the handling of a larger variety of bag sizes, shapes and dimensions, providing flexibility and reducing changeover time.

The new P5010 vacuum pump provides the highest possible vacuum performance relative to energy consumption, helping to reduce carbon footprint and improve conservation efforts. Based on COAX® technology, an advanced solution for creating vacuum with compressed air, the P5010 guarantees shorter changeover time and provides opportunities to customize and optimize vacuum performance, function and interface.

These new innovations complement PIAB’s diverse range of energy-efficient vacuum technologies for packaging lines, including advanced gripper and conveying systems.  At PACK EXPO, PIAB will be showcasing the VGSTM5010, which offers significantly higher material-handling speeds compared to traditional centralized vacuum systems, providing reduced downtime in end-of-the-line applications such as large carton erecting and palletizing. PIAB will also display the C2100-64 conveyor with COAX® technology, which improves vacuum-assisted flow by 25 percent without affecting energy consumption.

“The manufacturing process is constantly evolving, necessitating new technology that not only provides energy efficiency but enhanced productivity,” said Ed McGovern, Vice President, Sales and Business Development North America. “PIAB is determined to support its customers with solutions that offer streamlined production and greater sustainability.”

About PIAB
Established in 1951, PIAB designs innovative solutions that improve the productivity and working environment of vacuum users around the world.  PIAB manufacturers a complete line of vacuum pumps, vacuum accessories, vacuum conveyors and suction cups for a variety of automated material handling and factory automation processes.  PIAB utilizes COAX®, the next dimension in vacuum technology, in many of its original products and solutions. COAX® is an advanced technology for creating vacuum with compressed air. COAX® cartridges are smaller, more efficient and more reliable than conventional ejectors, and can be integrated directly into machinery.  This allows for the design of a flexible, modular vacuum system.
