Dairy Farmers has unveiled the first major cheese packaging innovation for the block cheese segment in almost 50 years.

Dairy Farmers has become the first Australian dairy company to launch easily resealable packaging for cheese blocks.

The innovative Zip Pak design for COON, Australia’s most iconic cheddar cheese brand, allows consumers to enjoy their COON cheese block at their leisure by providing a more effective storage solution.

The unique double rail reseal zip stops the cheese from drying out, and in doing so, offers consumers a superior storage solution compared to what is currently available.

While resealable packaging is already available for grated, shredded and shaved cheese packs, the COON reseal packaging marks a shift for the cheese block segment, which until now has forced consumers to improvise and use their own methods to re-wrap and preserve their cheese after opening the pack. This packaging means there is no more need for snap lock bags, freezer bags, cling wrap and containers.

According to the company, the wide opening at the top of pack also allows the cheese to be removed easily. This makes it more convenient for everyone in the family to slice and enjoy COON’s 100% natural, Australian made Cheddar cheese for any eating occasion, be it snacking, cooking or for a sandwich or ‘toastie’.

According to Dairy Farmers’ general manager for marketing and innovation, John Wardley, the launch of reseal is in direct response to consumer demand for greater convenience and pack functionality.

“We’re proud to be the first in Australia to offer this improved block cheese storage solution, which is easy to use and preserves the product for longer,” Wardley said.

“The introduction of reseal for our COON cheese blocks, along with the exciting new dairy beverage Rise and the hugely successful Thick & Creamy, illustrates that Dairy Farmers continues to lead the way in dairy innovation.”

The new COON reseal pack is available from Coles, Woolworths and independent supermarkets in the following varieties:

The RRP for the new COON reseal is also the same price as the previous COON cheese block range.
