Industry experts will be tackling the latest hot topics, trends and issues in the food and drink packaging and processing industries at Pro2Pac from 18 to 21 March. The seminar theatre, Future@Pro2Pac, will be hosting an array of leading professionals debating and presenting their views throughout the four-day exhibition at ExCeL, in London. What is the latest packaging material?

How can retailers tackle the new waste directives?

And how can companies speed up the processing stage?

All this and more will be answered by top specialists from across the processing and packaging industries.

- Mintel International Group will be presenting how companies in different parts of the world are using packaging to address current consumer trends and concerns.

- Sheffield Hallam University is delving deep into the latest product and packaging innovations.

- Leading authorities PPMA and Food from Britain are holding two sessions throughout the show entitled 'Enter The Dragon', which aims to give invaluable insight to China and debate industry issues.

Chris Buxton, Chief Executive of the PPMA, said: 'No UK business has been exempt from the effects of the inexorable march of the Chinese economy and the impact of its 20 year growth in GDP.

'As UK manufacturers we can either continue to struggle in a futile price war or we can treat the Chinese phenomenon as an opportunity.

Clearly the latter option is preferable - but how?

In a short seminar at Pro2Pac we will seek to provide some ideas on how UK manufacturers can ride on the back of the wave created by the huge growth in the Chinese economy'.

- In addition at Pro2Pac, a presentation not to missed, Terry Robins from TRPack, ex Sainsbury's Packaging Director, will be giving insight to the retailer's perspective of packaging materials concentrating on biopolymers and biomaterials.

- Other exciting speakers at Pro2Pac include the Packaging News editor Gordon Carson, the Food Processing magazine publisher Peter Whitfield, retail security specialist Checkpoint Systems, brand management solution Odin and market expert Leatherhead Food International.
