Bilcare, a leading research-based pharmaceutical packing solution company, Tuesday announced a regional development collaboration with Honeywell, a UK-based pharma packaging firm, to provide high-barrier packaging solution for the pharmaceutical sector.

"The partnership with Honeywell's Healthcare Film Business would help Bilcare to provide state-of-the-art materials for ensuing safety of sensitive drugs," said Mohan Bhandari, chairman and managing director of Bilcare, at a news conference here Tuesday.

"It will generate application-based packaging system for the pharmaceutical sector," he added.

Rick Knight, Honeywell's global business manager, said the partnership would develop new application for the company's 'Aclar' high barrier material specifically designed for pharmaceuticals.

Knight said the partnership would help address some of the challenges faced by the pharmaceutical industry, including counterfeit drugs, lack of effective packaging for providing adequate protection to drugs for retaining efficacy and potency throughout their shelf life and accidental misuse of drugs.
