Single Hole Punching Unit for Continuous Web Operation - Cp- 3000

PARK AIR has taken the continuous punch concept of the continuous peer-sol and applied it to a single hole punching unit. for use on a moving web, the cp- 3000 can operate at speeds up to 600 cycles per minute. the unit makes use of the same punch components as found on our cross bank units.

For use on the edge of a moving web, the unit is available in four throat depths. The continuous punchette uses a heavy duty repairable cylinder fired directly by a high speed solenoid valve. This heavy walled pneumatic cylinder can be readily rebuilt for years of efficient operation.

The die buttons are high speed steel, heat treated for maximum life. All surfaces of the die are finished to maximum smoothness giving proper fit to the punching assembly and assuring a consistent flow of slugs through the unit. This eliminates the occasional chip hang up caused by improper surface finishes.

The unit works on film thicknesses ranging from the thinnest materials available to a maximum of 12 mil. Special die buttons and punches are available for specialty applications with a wide variety of “butterfly” styles for our standard to special “X” and “Y” configurations. Whole size changes are easily accomplished with a change of only the ball punch and die button.

For applications where peer-sol units are impractical, the cp-3000 offers a solid alternative for venting a moving web. When used with our new style controls, accurate positioning of the hole in register to print or draw length is possible even when used in areas where speed varies.

Sharpening Service: After initial purchase of die buttons, you will never buy another one, with our low cost sharpening service. Send a minimum of 6 die buttons at a time, and sharpened die buttons are shipped to you immediately upon receipt of same.

CPS-6100 Modified Continuous Peer-Sol®

Modified Continuous Peer-Sol®

The Modified Continuous Peer-Sol® CPS-6100 punches a line of holes across a moving web. The CPS-6100 accommodates higher speeds – up to 1200 cycles per minute on a production basis, and effectively cuts most film. It is an air operated, electrically activated unit that requires a 40 millisecond pulse to operate. Each unit comes completely equipped with master filter – regulator, gauge and electric high speed solenoid valve that transmits a signal to activate the cylinders. Hole sizes are 1/8", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", or 7/16" mounted on 1-1/2" centers across the web. Older CPS-6000 punch banks can be upgraded to accept the new high speed punching unit.

New Style Control Units

The CPS-6100 is capable of operating at faster speeds allowing use of our latest hole control systems. Using fiber optics, we are able to punch holes in relation to printing. With our Combination Systems, we can offer units able to punch patterns in registration, independent of changes in film speed. Easily installed on any intermittent bag machine, the KBP-65HS offers a number of new features.Designed for both speed and noise reduction, the unit structure has been altered to reduce vibration resulting in quieter operation. New pneumatic components include high speed solenoid valves and long lasting heavy duty repairable cylinders. Operational speeds at over 500 C.P.M. can be obtained with no adverse affects on components.

Using standard PARK AIR Ejecto Punches, there is no need to carry additional cutter inventory for this equipment. The equipment also accepts all hole sizes up to 5/8” diameter using the standard KK cutters.

This design is not limited to 1-1/2” hole center distances. Instead, the punches are mounted in slots allowing for infinite adjustment across the width of the unit. The units are able to be mounted on 2-1/4” centers in the machine direction. Each unit is specifically built for the bag machine and Specifically designed for servo driven bag machine speeds.

Hanger Hole Punches

Park Air has a variety of machines for applications which require either a hanger or handle hole punch. The first style and most well known in the industry is used with a saw tooth style punch with a blow through for knocking the slug completely out. The second style uses either a heated blade or a heated steel rule punch to for applications which require perfectly clean edges around the cutout. The last style is a Zero Clearance Punch which can be adapted to any shape or size and is designed for high quality print pouches and bags that were once thought to be difficult to work with can now perforated with ease.

MODEL 34 Heated Handle Cut System

PARK AIR’s most adaptable Handle Cut System. This unit is designed for use with either sideweld or bottom seal bag machines (up to 5 across on a 60" width). The new heated blade makes it possible to cut cleaner looking handles in any polyethylene or polyethylene blend with greater blade life at greater speeds. The unit is able to slide across the bag machine and has a pneumatic locking frame system which holds it in place and allows for fast position changes.

The Heated Handle Cut System is an electrically activated, air powered unit. The unit is capable of accepting a virtually infinite variety of shapes and sizes. Speeds up to 250 cycles per minute on a production basis. Venturi vacuum system is used to remove slugs automatically. Cutters are made of spring steel, heat treated for longer wear and plated for smoother action.

Driven Longitudinal Drum Sealer - Model 88-Driven

Making a continuous seal on a moving web can be convenient in a number of types of applications. The Driven Longitudinal Drum Sealer Model 88-Driven is designed to address the need to produce a running seal between two separate layers of thin film, or when using multiple sealing heads across the drum surface. By creating the seal over a drum, tension differentials that may adversely affect seal strength and quality are eliminated. The drum acts as a large roller keeping both film layers flat and in correct orientation during the sealing process. Applications for the model 88 include document pockets on shipping envelopes and some of the more complicated diaper bags.

The Model 88 can be used for a number of other applications. These range from edge seal and trim to produce tubing from sheeting, slit sealing, and header sealing. The unit can be produced for multiple lanes and with a variety of sealing configurations. For slit sealing, we produce a 1/8” wide seal that is slit using a heated razor assembly.

There are two sealing head configurations available. Unique to the PARK AIR product line is the Hot Bar contacting seal head over the drum. The seal head is pressed against the drum contacting a Teflon® belt that is driven by the film. This unit produces a high integrity seal at high speeds.

The second sealing configuration is Hot Air. This is a non-contacting sealing head using a unique approach to direct a stream of heated air onto the material. This unit is also driven by the web motion. With the Hot Air configuration, there is no pressure on the seal. This configuration is recommended for high density films. Both configurations can be supplied with a heated razor blade for slit sealing application. The blade holder includes a micro adjustment screw for accurate positioning.

The units are supplied complete and ready to position in-line. Installation requires electric power and compressed air. Each seal head is independently controlled and is complete with heaters, thermocouple, and all connections. The unit is pneumatically engaged upon film start and disengaged when the film stops. Various width seals can be quoted on request.

For light gauge films or multi-head operation, Park Air now offers an optional driven drum design. This motor driven drum is synchronized to the incoming web speed by way of an encoder. Driving the drum reduces stress on the film and seals insuring high quality sealed edges.

Roller Sealer - HRS – 5000

The HRS-5000 ROLLER SEALER produces a header seal on a moving web. The unit is positioned on the floor between the “V” Board and the Capstan. It needs no mounts and is installed in minutes. The unit can be tilted in any direction to meet the oncoming web and can be moved in and out to position the seal relative to the fold of the bag.

Material is fed through unit which has rollers on either end holding an endless Teflon® belt in a taut condition, for no slippage of web. Upper and lower sealing jaws are centered in a closed condition with a known temperature and air pressure. On this unit, dwell is in relation to web speed. Temperature is regulated by a controller, and air pressure is controlled by a regulator. The unit has a heat sink section with fan to cool the seal.

PARK AIR can also offer the Roller Sealer with a “Third Belt Assembly.” This assembly will allow production of fold over handle top bags and other types of bags requiring separation of sealed layers. The standard unit has a 6" throat depth.

Zero Clearance Punch and Die - Model 16

Different materials have varying cutting requirements. Whereas polyethylene films can be efficiently cut with serrated edged tools, laminates, coextrusions and polypropylenes have other requirements. For high quality fine print pouches and bags, ragged looking hole cutouts are not acceptable.

Park Air has developed a special cutting system for these difficult to work with materials. The Model 16 features a fitted punch and die in an integrated unit assembly to accomplish precision alignment to tolerances below .001”. This punch creates a scissors action resulting in totally clean edges around the hole cutout. In polypropylene these clean edges prevent fracturing. In laminates and coextrusions, this clean appearance does not detract from the overall product appearance.

The Model 16 is easily adaptable to any bag or pouch making machine. Cycle rates up to 200 per
minute depending on hole shape and size and material to be cut.

These units are available for any of the standard hanger hole, tear notch or handle shapes. We can
also do round holes, thumb notches and made to order shapes and sizes. Economically priced, the
Model 16 represents an alternative to the costly expense of repair and replacement for current poorly
designed or worn out units. The punch and die can be field serviced and are easily sharpened for extra long life.

Our vertical Zipper is a turnkey unit for the application of “string or flanged” zipper profile designed to work with a wide variety of zippers and bag materials. Our Horizontal Zipper is designed for laminated and coextruded materials which at one time presented difficulties for converters. Park Air's new line includes Intermittent Sealing for the Slider Applicator.

Zipper Attachment - Model Z - 4900

Using fundamental sealing technologies pioneered by PARK AIR over the last twenty years, the company offers a turnkey unit for the application of “string or flanged” zipper profile. Designed to work with a wide variety of zippers and bag materials, the unit is able to out produce the more costly competition. Using basic sealing techniques and web controls, zipper application has never been easier or more cost effective.

The unit is able to be set up for applying zipper in either the open or closed end of the bag. This equipment can be supplied for multi-lane operation. A special unit adaptation for inserting the zipper horizontally is ideal for use in pouch making applications. The unit is easily placed in-line with any bag maker. The compact framework requires only five feet of space between the “V” board and the capstan roll. All controls are at a convenient height for the operators.

The patented unit design has also been applied to form fill and seal for applying profile in packaging applications. Incorporating material unwinds, drives and folding boards, the unit is completely self-contained.

SERRATORS

Park Air Serrating systems are designed for both on the edge serrations as well as multi lanes serrations for easy or hard tears. Park Air also offers a cross bank serrator unit for perforated sleeves on a roll which are required to have a known tear for proper pull separation.

Multiple Serrator

A versatile tool developed for slitting or serrating, the RS-1900 is available in a variety of configurations. For sideweld application of an "easy open" serration, the unit is available with standard throat depths of 2-1/8" or 4-1/8". Serration wheels are standard 12 and 24 tooth for easy and hard pull. Special tooth configurations or slitting wheels can be quoted on request.

For serration in the middle of wide webs or for multiple serrations in the machine direction, this unit is now available in a split configuration. The upper section supports the air activated serrating assembly. The lower section supports the bearing block and holder or hardened roller shaft. The unit features larger diameter wheels for longer life. This unit can also be supplied with multiple heads.

Rotary Serrator

A versatile tool developed for slitting or serrating, the RS-1900 is available in a variety of configurations.

Cross Bank Serrator

This is an air-operated, electrically activated unit that will mount and operate on any Intermittent Motion Machine from 12" to 60" wide. It features instant installation and minimum maintenance.

Designed to have a known spacing between individual “razor type” blades. With the adjustable depth penetration feature, a proper tear factor for any width of web and any thickness of film is easily obtained.

The new area of perforated sleeves on a roll must have a known tear for proper pull separation. Each
blade is heat treated for maximum hardness and instantly replaceable; no replacing a whole serrating bar for one broken “tooth”.

This unit uses the principle of holding the material taut while it is being cut, for straightness of cut and repetitious spacing. The blades go into a cavity that is filled, so that the film is not crimped or
distorted in any manner.
