Ta`aheel revealed that packaging has become a major factor in shaping consumer preferences and in controlling overheads, compelling several beverage firms to invest substantially in new packaging technologies.

One of the standard methods of providing customers with ease of access to containers has been narrow width tear strip tapes. These have been good solutions for many paper, corrugated and film packages. Special constructions of some wider tapes now expand the capabilities, allowing a controlled tear of tough plastic films that previously could not be opened easily. This new technology and several uses of it are discussed.
