INNOVIA Films has developed a new transparent packaging film that strikes at the heart of current paper industry concerns about sustainability.
NatureFlex 42NE-RW is a unique biodegradable and compostable film manufactured from renewable wood pulp, sourced exclusively from plantations operating sustainable forestry principles.
The film is fully tested and certified to both European (EN13432) and US (ASTM D6400) composting norms.
Innovia Films has a policy of continuous investment aimed at modernising its manufacturing practices. The most recent is the introduction of state-of-the-art gas recovery systems that reclaims the waste gases, separates them and reintroduces them back into the process as part of a closed loop recycling system.
NatureFlex is both biodegradable and compostable. Biodegradability standards require that the material is capable of being broken down by micro-organisms.
Compostability means the film is suitable for industrial composting systems as it will ‘revalorise’ to produce useable compost in a maximum of 180 days.
NatureFlex is unique because it can also be disposed of in a home composting system – it requires no ‘starter’ (usually heat) to begin the composting process.
NatureFlex 42NE-RW offers excellent clarity and gloss to maximise visual on-shelf impact and has superb deadfold characteristics to give a crisp, tight wrap and enhanced stiffness for optimum film-feed.
The film has an extremely wide heat sealing temperature range that minimises mis-wraps and machine downtime, while eliminating the need for glue for an all together cleaner packing process.
The seals are peelable to enable easy opening without tearing so re-closure tabs can be applied.
The integrity achieved at the seals by heat sealing, along with the product's excellent moisture barrier, ensure the paper is protected throughout its distribution.
