Creating visual appeal through special effects on packaging Ciba presents a world of emotions at the Perfumes, Cosmetics & Design show in Paris.Ciba invites visitors to the Perfumes, Cosmetics & Design (PCD) show in Paris from January 22-23, 2008 to enter “a world of emotions” at stand no. D5.
Denis Keller, Global Manager for Cosmetics Packaging at Ciba, says: “Transparent effects make packaging more attractive and eye-catching, so they help to sell luxury items such as cosmetics and perfumes. However, products packaged in transparent materials are especially prone to discoloration and spoilage through the effects of light. At PCD, Ciba will be demonstrating how to create visual appeal through special effects such as transparency, while maintaining content protection.”
Ciba will show how the appeal of packaging can be enhanced through brilliant, highly transparent shades. Shimmer, shine or sparkle can be added with a series of recently launched, completely novel effects in a number of different shades. An elegant finish is produced by printing packaging with special inks that give ultra-shiny decorative mirror effects on plastic. A special laser marking system enables barcodes and other markings to be applied without impairing transparency and thereby spoiling the attractive appearance of the packaging. To prevent discoloration and help prolong shelf life, Ciba has developed special products that protect packaging contents from the harmful effects of light and oxygen.
Denis Keller will present a paper entitled “Transparency for Appeal & Design” on the morning of Tuesday, January 22.
