Which type of confectionery maker are you? Each has its need
Chocolatiers want to make their products look delectable, their packages too. Very often, the boxes are as meticulously designed and as well crafted as the sweets inside them. Aside from the protection it provides, a BOPP film overwrap makes the beautiful box look even better. Holidays are approaching, can we get it gift wrapped? Sure, just use paper.
Specialty makers wish to differentiate their products from mass confectioners and known brands. They search for tamper protection but do not want that vending machine look. Old fashioned look at new fashioned production rates. Who has that mix? We know.
The packages in the candy industry are as vast as the assortments they contain. Each has a generic and a specific need. We know them both.
To meet these needs, the confectionery over wrap process typically centers on a handful of niche requirements:
- Wrapping many different box sizes or trays with clear BOPP film
- Wrapping many different box sizes with printed gift paper
- Wrapping individual confection items
- Wrapping single size boxes or confections at super high speeds
Our strength is flexibility, the ability to run several different sizes of boxes or confectionery items with easy changeover at medium-high production speeds.
Paper Wrap
Paper wrapped confectionery boxes typically run from 20-60 per minute. Two types of gift paper may be used, treated gift paper or plain gift paper.
On treated paper, a small layer of adhesive is pre-applied to the paper during the conversion process.During the wrap process, heaters activate and begin to set the glue.Compression belts are used to hold the flaps in place until sealed.
Other makers choose to use standard gift paper which requires that hot or cold melt glue systems be integrated into the wrapping equipment. No problem!
A candy company wanted to wrap their boxed candy in paper for its seasonal applications. Because of their needs for quick changeover of product sizes there was concern that a hot glue system could be problematic. Working with a glue system designer we were able to provide them with a cold glue system and still achieve the package appearance and line speed that were important to them.

Film Wrap
In the case of wrapping boxes in BOPP; speed requirements vary with customers needing anywhere from 10 per minute to 150 per minute.& These days, most new customers who purchase automated wrapping equipment for clear BOPP film also obtain the printed/registered film capability for future market demands.
One candy company needed to have a machine that would match the production speed of its cooking process and be able to accommodate different size packages while minimizing changeover time. Package designed a machine with quick change that would run up to 140 packages per minute.
