Almost year ago this September, BIOLAB/ Chemtura set out to visit almost every pressure sensitive labeler manufacturer throughout the USA to find the system that would give them what they required: A system that would be so easy to use, the operator could be changed on any given hour, day or shift. A system where all the components would be completely synchronized and easy that start up would be a breeze and would save them money. A complete system with quick changeovers, extreme accuracy, efficiency and reliability.

Biolab/ Chemtura chose NITA labeling Equipment’s SynerG XP200T labeler to get everything they required and more. As an added bonus, a touch screen panel interface that reflected all their containers and label recipes was standard issue. Incremental precision guides with measurements are all reflected in the HMI’s recipes.

Parts and electronic components, including software and programming generally make the cost of ownership very high, after the purchase. We found that with the Nita equipment, there was simple catalogue engineering and all the electronics were not only extremely reliable but also readily available at any of our local component outlets we knew of.”

The specific application required was two-fold. A pail labeling machine that can perform a throughput of 40-45 products per minute based on two 14 inch long labels while taking care of the handle placement.

The second system was a little more sophisticated... Round, non-tapered containers needed to be labeled, in many varieties and sizes, some with windows and some with handles. The challenge was that the window couldn’t be covered by the label since they were the product measuring indication points on chemical solutions. The handles from other bottles needed to be the focal point of the label’s beginning and end, therefore precise orientation was a MUST! Biolab chose the DR-OLS, (Digital Recognition Orientation Labeling System), simply stated, it is a digital camera with an extremely precise servo driven belt module which allows for rapid recognition and orientation of the bottle according to 2mm precision specification before the label is to be applied.

“It been a year of constant production, and we are still incredibly enthused with the labeling machine NITA has Provided to us, we have tried many usual labeling companies in the past, they all have pieces of the puzzle but simply do not have the complete solution that NITA does. Real synchronization which gives us the advantage of never moving a sensor for label positioning on the bottle is a true time and product saver, servo motors that never break down and do not need to be re-calibrated makes our maintenance guys extremely happy, automatic label measuring, compensation for missing labels, easy-to-use touch screen with recipes which include troubleshooting and sensor diagnosis are sweet, and the gradient rulers reflected in the set-ups helps our operators set up quickly. We now manage to get our production done in 2 weeks rather than 3 and a half. The savings and sustainability of not loosing labels or products has been amazing. I like the fact that we installed it quickly, put it to use the next day and it’s been running ever since. Nita says its Simply Easy and it truly is on every level,” adds said Tim Howard of Biolab
