At BOA AG, a KUKA robot welds not only quickly, but also with high quality.

A solution for processing welding tasks faster, more cost-effectively and with high quality. These were BOA AG’s requirements when opting for a TIG welding cell with a KUKA robot for the manufacture of sheet-metal constructions.

Implementation / Solution

A KUKA KR 15 L6/2 robot works at two work stations in a cell planned by LISTEC Schweißtechnik AG. Both stations are equipped with a DKP 400 two-axis positioner in order to provide the required flexibility. Different parts with varying batch sizes are produced at the two work stations. The robotic system is equipped with a TIG weld power source with cold filler wire from ESAB.

Results / Success

The system is highly flexible and the KUKA robot works at high speed and with great accuracy. For a process that used to take about two hours, the robot requires just 13 minutes. The weld seams are always of consistent length and consistent quality.
