BARRIER FILMS

Jhaveri Flexo is coming up with barrier solution in flexible packaging focus to provide complete barrier solution:

• BARRICAST^TM: A 5 layer Cast Polypropylene film with EVA / EVOH / Nylon as barrier.
• BARRIBLOWN^TM: A 5 layer Blownfilm plant with EVA / EVOH / Nylon as barrier.
• BARRICOAT^TM: A specialized coated film based on PVdC.

For longer shelf-life of products, packaging needs to provide good protection against factors which are critical to the products. Depending For example some products are susceptible to moisture, oxygen or both and other gasses. Depending on the product sensitivity against the critical factors, it is important to provide protection with proper barrier component in packaging. Single layer films are generally quite permeable to most gases.

Barrier films are usually multi-layer and coated film that have been designed to be impervious to gas and moisture migration. Some common examples of barrier films will be found in any grocery store. Bags used for packaging potato chips and meat products are moisture and oxygen barrier bags.

Products in Barrier Films are:

• BARRICAST^TM: Co-extruded Barrier Films, till 5 layers, with CAST technology having co-extruded barrier layer of nylon and/or EVOH used for packaging in MAP (modified atmosphere protected) and in vacuum of materials used for packaging bottom and trays.
• BARRIBLOWN^TM: BARRIBLOWN™ is co-extruded barrier film till 5 layers created with BLOWN technology. BARRIBLOWN™ having co-extruded barrier layer of nylon and/or EVOH barrier films offer gas barrier, aroma barrier, flavour retention, chemical resistance; and the sealant layer is engineered to meet specific requirement.
• BARRICOAT^TM: PVdC coated high barrier transparent film which can give moderate but both gas and moisture barrier alongwith features like printability, selability, and very high gloss.
