About Us
SKC Co., Ltd. (Seoul, South Korea) is the parent company of SKC, Inc. (Covington, Georgia, USA). SKC Co., Ltd. began commercial production of polyester films in 1978. The company grew from its 1976 founding to become a global supplier of polyester films. In 1986, SKC established a sales and service branch in Mt. Olive, New Jersey, USA to further accommodate the American market. Recognizing the numerous benefits customers receive through local sourcing, SKC embarked on an ambitious plan to provide those benefits by building a state-of-the-art facility in Covington, Georgia, USA. The multi-year project created a new organization (SKC, Inc.), a new headquarters and a new plant. SKC, Inc. began production of film in May 1999. The Covington plant currently manufactures a variety of Skyrol® brand polyester films on three production lines. Future plans reveal initiatives to expand the plant to ten lines. SKC has a global production capacity of 300 million pounds of films per year, the most productive and advanced plant in the industry (Covington, Georgia, USA) and the highest volume film plant in the world (Suwon, South Korea). SKC is truly a world leader in polyester films. Skyrol® polyester films are initially produced in large master rolls and then slit down to smaller rolls according to customer specifications. Skyrol® films are sold to its customers who utilize the films in their processes and end products. For more detailed information on SKC’s broad portfolio of Skyrol® films, refer to the find a film type section, or the Contact Us section of this website. SKC desires to be your key source for polyester films. SKC Specialty Packaging Film
Heat Shrinkable Film Skyrol® Heat Shrinkable Film is the polyester film which shows excellent shrinking behavior. The labeled containers produce prominent exhibition effect from all sides around it. Skyrol® Heat Shrinkable Film on temper evidence application ensures the safety of products. It can be applied to plastic, Glass, can containers for beverage, yogurt, and liquor. Heat Shrinkable Matte Film Skyrol® Heat Shrinkable Matte Film enables the outstanding design and adds the value to the packaged products. It can be also applied to the shrink pack for liquor which is sensitive to UV light. It transmits only 18 % of UV while normal shrinkable film transmits 80%. Heat Shrinkable fluorescent Film Skyrol® Heat Shrinkable Fluorescent Film shows well adjusted shrinking behavior, and it has an unique functionality of emitting the blue fluorescent light under UV irradiation By installing the UV irradiator on the labeler, you can check the quality ( the positioning of the label on the container) of your product efficiently and maximize the productivity. MD Heat Shrinkable Film Skyrol® MD Shrinkable Film has the characteristics of shrinking to the machine direction under the proper application of heat. It can be applied the label for battery and beverage container ( RORS: Roll- On Shrink-On system). PLA Film Skywel ® Sustainable Resource Based Film, made from corn-derived organic material, is biodegradable and environmentally friendly film which provides excellent alternatives to the existing plastic packaging material. Co-Extruded Film Skyrol® Heat Sealable Polyester Film can eliminate the number of layers required to resist chemical and moisture in packaging application on the structure. It seals PVdC coated materials, Paper, C- PET, Steel, FRP panels and itself. Flexible Film Skyrol® Flexible Film has excellent moisture resistance property for long term storage. It also has convert- ability of PET film and the superior flexibility to Nylon film. One sheet of Skyrol® Flexible Film can substitute two layers (PET film and other film) in normal packaging material structure, resulting in cost effectiveness of the raw materials and converting process. Thermo-formable Film Skyrol® Thermo-formable Film is easily formable to various shapes at comparatively lower temperature. It is applied to the thermo-forming packaging for sliced ham, sausage, bacon, and etc. Barrier Film Skyrol® High Barrier Film is FDA approved and used to improve oxygen and moisture barrier properties. It is in-line coated with water based PVdC to provide a uniform barrier with no residual solvents. Twistable Film Skyrol® Twistable Film maintains the deformed shape after deformation or twisting. It has a good dead fold property and shows excellent performance even on the twisting process of very high speed. Fancylite Decorative Film Skyrol® Fancylite Decorative Film provides strong and iridescent quality that showcases products and eye-catching effects. It appears to change shades of color when they are viewed from different angles. Click here to view Skyrol® Manufacturing Process.

What’s New?
SKC, Development of Nano-Layer Film (2006-09) After one year of research, SKC (CEO: Park Jang Suk) announced the successful development of a new color film called Fancylite, which takes advantage of nanotechnology. Hundreds of resin layers, which are a nanometer-thick, are used to make Fancylite film. The color characteristics of the film change according to the refractive properties of each resin layer, and the number and thickness of the layers. Depending on the background, viewing position, and light source, the color will change in appearance. Like the shimmering rainbow colors of a soap bubble, the film will have a cascade of colors. In the past, dyes and pigments were injected into the color films or a special color coating was applied to the film’s surface, but Fancylite is able to produce different colors due to the inherent properties and structure of the film itself thus, there no discoloration will occur unlike dyes and pigments. By harnessing the nano-layer technology that is incorporated in Fancylite film, SKC is planning to meld the same technology to window films, safety films, LCD films, and other new materials. The market for these different products is estimated to grow into a 1 trillion-won market. SKC completes construction of capacitor polyester film plant with Chinese partner (2006-12) On December 8, 2006, the construction of the PET film plant built by Anhui Tongae Electronics Materials, a joint venture between SKC (CEO Park Jang Seok) and the Tongfeng Electronics Company, a top Chinese producer of Oriented Polypropylene (OPP), was completed in Anhui Province, China. The plant is currently operating at full capacity. (* PET film: polyester film) SKC is the first South Korean company to build a film plant in a joint venture with a Chinese partner. This new plant will boost SKC’s presence in China and allow the company to tap the vast growth potential of the Chinese market. With an agreement to transfer technology, SKC received a 25% share (capital investment of $31,250,000) of the jointly-owned company. It is a bold entry into the Chinese market. With its Suwon plant in Korea, Georgia plant in the U.S. and a new jointly-owned plant in China, SKC has achieved its goal of building a global manufacturing base for its PET film business. SKC has risen into a global film manufacturer that can compete with leading global companies in terms of quality and marketing prowess. In China, SKC will expand beyond its capacitor PET films to also produce optical films, and PET films for special packaging in China. Through continuous expansion, SKC aims to make its Chinese joint venture into the top PET film producer in China. Click here to View our Press Releases.
