Body & Glaze Stains, Ceramic Pigments, Colors, Liquid Colorants

Body and Glaze Stains

Ferro is the largest supplier of ceramic pigments (stains) in the world.  Color plants are established in all the major ceramic manufacturing countries and laboratory facilities. Ferro pigments are man-made materials, which closely duplicate the properties of their natural parents, which have withstood the corrosive action of the sun, wind and rain for centuries.

Decoration Colors

Under the brand name of CerDeColor, Ferro offers an extensive choice of low toxic metal release and lead-, & cadmium-free Deco Colors to meet the exacting performance demands of the ceramic industry in the 21st century.

  • Indio Resistant: Decorating Colors for Enamel
  • Palette 70: Resistant Porcelain Colors
  • Azurico: Brilliant Blue Resistant Onglaze Colors
  • Sunshine: Low Metal Release Onglaze Colors
  • SambaPlus: Unleaded Onglaze Colors
  • Fantasie: Unleaded Onglaze Metallic Colors
  • Fiesta: Low Metal Release Inglaze Colors
  • SkyPlus: Unleaded Inglaze Colors
  • SpringtimeII: Unleaded Underglaze Colors

Decoration Media, Covercoats & Auxiliaries

Ferro is one of the major producers of Oils and Media for the decoration of ceramics with a long tradition of pacesetting innovation and continuous product improvement. The company offers water-, wax-, and solvent-based media to suit the principal application methods employed in the industry, together with a specialized range of screen printing media and covercoats for the manufacture of both waterslide and heat release decals. For the decal printers, Ferro media and covercoats can be offered in liquid form and a variety of thixotropic consistencies.

Frits and Glazes

Ferro offers a wide range of Ceramic Frits and Glazes for all applications. Ferro supplies most of the world`s leading manufacturers of Fine Ceramics (Dinnerware, Cookware & Giftware) with their ceramic coatings.

Specifically, Ferro has been at the forefront of the development of Unleaded Glazes for Dinnerware and Cookware and can, therefore, guarantee that its products contain less than 0.1% PbO, with every individual batch being subjected to third party accreditation for lead content, irrespective of batch size. This in turn ensures that Ferro customers have access to full traceability in their manufacturing process.

Precious Metal Preparations

The Ferro ``CerDecOr`` Precious Metal Preparations (PMP) and Lustres create high quality decorations of great beauty and durability on porcelain, bone china, fine china, stoneware, earthenware and glass.

Ferro Precious Metal Preparations are offered in a variety of color tones and surface finishes for both onglaze and inglaze firing conditions. All Ferro PMPs are designed to suit the latest trends in firing conditions, especially the moves towards lower temperatures and fast firing cycles on Fine and Bone China and the use of high temperature, fast firing conditions for porcelain dinnerware and giftware.

CORDOBOND® Epoxy Repair systems

CORDOBOND® epoxy repair systems for industrial, marine, utility and other demanding maintenance applications produce long-lasting repairs with outstanding impact strength, tensile strength and abrasion resistance. These liquid and paste formulations bond tenaciously to most materials for effective repair of pinholes and ruptures to complete breaks in pipes, tanks, flanges, machinery casings, etc., including equipment carrying water, low-pressure steam, gases, petroleum, alcohol and caustics. Specialized grades range from CORDOBOND Sealer for small holes; to CORDOBOND Steel Putty for repairs that can be drilled, tapped and machined; to CORDOBOND Underwater Epoxy for repairs in dry, wet or submerged conditions.

PDI® Color Dispersions

PDI® color dispersions for thermoset plastics are available in a wide range of resin-matched vehicles offering total reactivity with all polyester, epoxy and polyurethane resins and compatibility with all PVC and silicone formulations. Containing up to 80 percent pigment by weight, these concentrated dispersions undergo special processing that breaks down pigment agglomerates into individual particles that are wet-out in suspension, preventing re-agglomeration and increasing opacity of the original pigment by 50 to 80 percent. Primary base colors are maintained in stock for rapid, low-cost blending of custom colors in small or large quantities.

SPECTRAFLO® Liquid Colorants

SPECTRAFLO® liquid colorants for thermoplastics are available in a range of specialized vehicles offering compatibility with all polyolefins, styrenics and engineering resins. These highly concentrated dispersions are incorporated at letdown ratios as high as 1,000 parts resin to one part color, minimizing cost and effects on physical properties.

The liquid colorant is injected into the feed throat of injection, extrusion or blow molding machines using peristaltic metering pumps, allowing fine-tuning of color levels during molding, reducing color changeover times to 10 minutes, and eliminating the need to empty and/or dry natural resin in the hopper. Primary base colors are maintained in stock for rapid, low-cost blending of custom colors in small or large volumes.

Ultra® and SuperShield® Gelcoat

Ultra® and SuperShield® gelcoats for boats, recreational vehicles, truck bodies, sanitaryware, swimming pools and other polyester and epoxy composite parts and castings produce colorful and/or clear finishes that resist moisture, chemicals, impact and UV light. Low-VOC gelcoats, based on an advanced molecule recently developed and patented by Ferro, offer properties never before available: up to 60 percent less shrinkage; significantly less overspray at equivalent viscosities; and 50 percent reductions in styrene emissions compared with gelcoats based on conventional polyester vehicles. Gelcoats utilizing both traditional and low-VOC vehicles are available in high-performance grades offering 100 to 217 percent greater gloss and color retention than gelcoats containing conventional pigments and additives. High-performance clear gelcoat is also offered, as are specialized gelcoats for sanding and tooling applications.
