PneuMoment™ Pneumatic Actuator Reduces Cycle Time in Pick and Place Application
An automobile manufacturer recently found Bimba`s PneuMoment pneumatic actuator to be just the solution for one of their pick and place applications. Because the PneuMoment actuator features high side and moment load carrying capabilities, the manufacturer selected the actuators for use in conjunction with a robot to place parts into a fixture for further processing. As a result, the robot`s cycle time has been significantly reduced.
Ultran® Cylinder Helps Eliminate Costly Maintenance and Quality Problems
Transferring a circuit board from one manufacturing process to another requires extremely smooth movement to prevent costly component damage and production interruptions. A major manufacturer of circuit boards found this to be particularly true after they watched their maintenance downtime and reject rates soar. To help eliminate these problems, the manufacturer chose Bimba`s Ultran rodless cylinder that features a magnetically coupled design for smooth, consistent actuation.
Pneu-Turn® Reduces Downtime and Improves Productivity In Indexing Application
This manufacturer was using a mechanical design to index ladder tape for window dressings. The machine indexed 180° every six to seven seconds. However, stress caused the machine to be down 50% of the time. Eventually they replaced the mechanical design with cylinders, but were still experiencing downtime. The existing cylinders were replaced with Bimba`s Pneu-Turn rotary actuators. Downtime was eliminated and machine setup time reduced. Plus, thanks to the smooth, controlled motion of the Pneu-Turn rotary actuator, the machine`s speed was increased by seven percent, improving production output.
Ultran Eliminates Air Leakage and Vibration Problems
This OEM manufacturer builds equipment for retreading large truck tires. Originally the company used a band cylinder to shuttle an air motor with a cutting disc to cut the rubber. However, the thickness of the rubber caused the cutting disc to jam and the cylinder to vibrate excessively. Other problems: leaky cylinders and the loss of air compression reducing cylinder performance. To solve all these problems, the company installed Bimba`s Ultran rodless cylinder, operated with an air/oil system. Ultran features a magnetically coupled design, so there`s no longer any leakage problem. And, the air/oil service provides smooth controllable motion. Because there`s less vibration and stress, cylinder life is extended.
Tight Space and High Force Requirements Met By Flat-1® Cylinders
Today the operative word in machine design is compact. The challenge is to design more space-saving machines without compromising force. This OEM manufacturer used compact cylinders to push locating pins through casehardened bushings into stamping dies once they are properly positioned on the die-changing equipment. The die is then either transferred onto a press or to storage. Although they were already using compact cylinders, the company wanted even smaller cylinders. Bimba`s Flat-1 cylinders were specified because of their compactness. The Flat-1 cylinders saved more space than any other compact cylinders while delivering equal force.
