Automated Packaging Systems’ AirPouch™ Division has introduced new 1.5 mil air pillow film for its Express 3 Void-Fill System. This new line of material is thinner than previous films, and offers a lower-cost alternative to void-fill packing applications that require moderate durability and puncture resistance.

Like the standard 2.0 mil material, this new lighter gauge film is made of DuraClear™ linear low density polyethylene, which offers high clarity and good strength. In addition to a lower cost per foot, the new 1.5 mil film allows more material capacity per box for longer run times and fewer changeovers. All AirPouch pillows are system-matched to run with optimum productivity on the AirPouch Express 3 void-fill system.

AirPouch air pillows feature the company’s innovative EZ-Tear™ Perforations, which allow quick and easy separation of pillows for fast and efficient packing. The company was recently awarded a NIPHLE Design Award from the National Institute of Packaging, Handling and Logistics Engineers for the EZ-Tear perforation design. This prestigious award acknowledged the product’s exceptional ergonomic and productivity design features, which are unique in the void-fill and air pillow industry.

Air pillows offer many advantages over traditional packing materials because they are cleaner, lighter, more user-friendly, and they do not hide the product inside the box.
The thinner 1.5 mil material reduces the cost per cubic foot and weight per package for lower shipping costs. AirPouch pillows are available in sizes 8 inches wide by 4, 6, 8 10 and 12 inches long.

The AirPouch Express 3 is a portable, benchtop unit that produces strips of air pillows at more than 50 feet per minute. This compact unit weighs 35 pounds and has a footprint of 20” x 12”, making it one of the most versatile and user-friendly packing systems on the market. This AirPouch system is quiet and its all electric design requires no compressed air.
