A new convenience aseptic package for ice-lollies and juice drinks can hold different volumes without the need for machine changeovers.

Changeovers are costly for firms due to lost production during downtime and the increased risk of contamination.

The new Tetra Classic Aseptic 110 S package is designed to hold between 100 to 110 ml of product, allowing packagers using Tetra Pak's modified A1 filling machine.

The design allows companies to change volumes depending on product and demand. The packages can be produced and sold either as a single pack or in chains of four.

The single serve option allows packagers to respond to the demand for more portability and convenience for an on-the-go society.

Aseptic technology within the hermetically sealed packaging guarantees the quality of the contents over a longer shelf life, helping firms to reduce storage and distribution costs, claims Tetra Pak.

The 110 S also helps to retain the nutritional value of the contents making it suitable for ice-lollies, juice drinks, milk, ice-teas and viscous products, the manufacturer claims.

The package uses a minimum of material due to its tetrahedron shape, which reduces the financial costs and the environmental impact, its manufacturer claims.

Photographic quality printing on the packaging is possible using flexoprocess – a method for coating and laminating film using solid adhesive at room temperature.

The size and shape of the package makes it ideal for beverages targeting children, Tetra Pak claims.

A strawhole opening can be incorporated on the package, which can also include a variety of straws for direct consumption.

Swedish-owned Tetra Pak, is a global packaging and machine manufacturer, with an 80 per cent share of the carton packaging market, according to a Bloomberg report.
