Synopsis
The Packaging Industry is continuing to look for new and innovative ways of increasing productivity and decreasing costs. Automation solutions are continuously evaluated as an option for achieving these goals. One such automation technology is the use of Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs). AGVs have been around for almost 40 years and have continued to become more advanced. With this advancement AGVs have also become more flexible, user-friendly and cost effective. This paper gives an overview of what AGVs are as well as covering some of the new technologies in Automatic Guided Vehicle Systems that benefit organizations not only in the packaging industry, but other industries as well.
