Heatset Controller
M3 Heatset Process Controller
Heatset System

Recipe Management, Sensors, Alarm Logging, Valves, Data Logging

InteCraft is pleased to introduce the M3 controller, our 3rd generation controller with advanced control strategies proven on 100+ steam tunnels over the past 10 years. The best has been made better through our quest for ongoing improvement in reliability, serviceability and performance.

Each controller is dedicated to a single steam tunnel and mates with our M3 operator station. An entire department of machines can be linked for reporting and monitoring with a single InteCraft supervisory station. Key features of the controller include:

  • extremely rugged hardware platform
  • hot swappable modules enhance serviceability
  • redundant processors simplify maintenance and maximize up-time
  • self verifying temperature measurements aid maintenance & quality assurance
  • control algorithm developed specifically for heatset optimizes control performance
  • commercially available off-the- shelf components enhances serviceability

Key features of the operator station include:

  • key components are secured to the pole versus the touch panel
  • separate touch monitor can be serviced without interrupting operation
  • open design and long life components provide extended life cycle
  • long term standardization of platform allows improved serviceability
  • 3 year parts warranty by Intecraft
  • endurastar is a trademark of hitachi global storage technologies

Key features of the supervisory station include:

  • continuous data logging of all key process variables
  • historical trend charts for review of process history
  • real-time trend charts for viewing current process performance
  • production efficiency and downtime reports
  • lot setup report with all set points and alarm limits
  • centralized recipe storage and management
  • runs on commercially available software package (wonderware)
  • expandable for connection other machines and plant equipment
  • supports connection to corporate management information systems
  • allows remote support via corporate network or dial-in connection

A typical installation of the M3 system consists of a single supervisory station and multiple control systems. The supervisory system serves as a focal point for management and quality control functions as well as providing a central location for the storage of recipes, data logging, and alarm logging. Each control system operates independently to regulate and monitor the heatset process. Each M3 control system is dedicated to a single machine and operates independently from the supervisory system. The system consists of an operator station, a control enclosure, valves and sensors. The operator station includes of a color flat-panel touch-screen on an ergonomic swing-arm and mounting post. The separate Control Enclosure houses the M3 controller, power supplies and other electronics.

In general this station is located in the department manager`s office or the production supervisor`s office. Functions provided include the following:

  • recipe management – authorized persons are provided a tool to create, modify, delete recipes
  • central recipe storage – a single standardized copy of each recipe is used by all control systems
  • data logging – months worth of data are logged to hard drive and backed up on CD or other media
  • alarm logging – alarm logs are stored on hard drive and backed up on CD or other media
  • trend charts – historical data from single or multiple machines are easily displayed on trend charts
  • department overview – graphical overview of all machines: status, efficiencies, run/stop timers
  • machine view – graphical detail view of each machine: alarms, process readings, timers
  • reports – efficiencies, down-times, alarm history by machine, custom reports, automatic printing– all displays can be printed for a hard copy of settings, process conditions, and reports
  • remote access – this feature also allows Intecraft to provide technical assistance and upgrades via telephone, allowing reduced support cost and response time in most cases. key plant personnel can also be allowed access via network or modem if desired
