CBN’s VISION for a profitable future

Together with our customer The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), Drent Goebel will demonstrate a Vision SMR (short make ready) press at CBN’s facility in Virginia Beach, VA. The Open House will take place June 5th thru June 7th where we will be exhibiting an 8-color litho press with a web width of 520 mm (20.5 inch) configured to print direct mail, business forms and commercial applications. This UV press is equipped with full color, register and video inspection systems delivering product in a roll-to-roll and roll-tosheet format.

All three days the Vision will demonstrate why it belongs to the top range of presses for this market segment. When launched the Vision was the first servo-driven press in the world. Servo-drive technology offers excellent web tension controls providing exacting registration and excellent dot fidelity. During the open house visitors will have the possibility to attend one or more of the workshops about quality, cost saving and personalization.

About CBN
Forty years ago, one could have reasonably suggested that Pat Robertson was stretching his imagination when he named his broadcasting organization -- located in a defunct Portsmouth, Virginia TV station -- The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). Not only was CBN the first Christian television station in Virginia, it was also the first in the nation. Forty years later, no one can dispute that CBN is one of the largest television ministries in the world.

The Vision press is installed in CBN’s Corporate Support Building, located centrally on CBN’s campus in Virginia Beach. The building houses not only the printing and personalization division but also a complete mailing fulfillment centre and call centre. During the open house people will also have the possibilities to visit these divisions.

Vision technology

The Vision is a short-make-ready web offset printing press that combines shaftless technology with near limitless inline options. This press can be used for a wide variety of products, including commercial print products, direct mail products, labels, pharmaceutical inserts and various flexible packaging applications.

Over 60 years of experience in press manufacturing has lead to an amazing product. Proven shatftless web press technology has been combined with innovations that minimize make-ready time. The result is the Vision SMR, a press that offers today’s printers competitive advantages in productivity, versatility and order turnaround time.

The modular design makes virtually any combination of printing processes and inline finishing possible, making it suitable for a wide variety of products. A choice of tooling allows a variety of inline finishing capabilities which can dramatically reduce post-press finishing time and costs.
