WorldStar 2006 attracted 265 entries from 35 countries around the world. Out of this 130 were selected as WorldStar winners 2006 by the jury in their meeting in Poznan, Poland, on November 21, 2006. Six of the entries were also nominated for President’s Award as they show special qualities in their packaging solution. The jury consisted of 23 representatives from the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) and one representative from the International Packaging Press Organisation (IPPO).

This years WorldStar jury meeting was held in Poznan, Poland in connection with the WPO Board meeting. Host was the Polish Packaging Research and Development Centre, COBRO and Poznan International Fair. During the three day meetings, the delegates also had the opportunity of touring the POLEKO Exhibition and to visit a packaging manufacturer, TFP Ltd. in Kornik.

The six nominees for the President’s Award for 2006 are:

- Brachia - "Olive", TRIDVAJEDAN market communication ltd., Croatia (category Food)
- Emmi Lacto Tab, Emmi Switzerland AG / Georg Menshen GmbH & Co. KG, Germany (category Beverage)
- Freshness packaging for fish, Feldmann + Schultchen Design Studios GmbH, Germany (category Food)
- Packaging solution for YAMAHA Outboard Motor 9.9~15PS, YAMAHA KUMAMOTO Products Co. Ltd., Japan (category Other)

New for this year is that three President’s Awards will be presented: one Gold, one Silver and one Bronze version.

The winners of the President’s Awards will be announced and awarded at the award ceremony for the WorldStar Winners in Chicago, United States, May 15th, 2007.
