Impress received a total of four WorldStar Awards at the 2006 ceremony held in Beijing on 19th April. These preeminent international awards illustrate advances in packaging and set new standards of international excellence. For Impress, this is a remarkable achievement in a remarkable year!
The WorldStar Awards are reserved for packaging that has already received a national award. Expert judges from the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) compare national award winners from around the world and select the best. Impress lived up to its reputation as a world leader in metal packaging, by receiving awards in the Food and Domestic Categories: The four awards illustrate the diversity of Impress packaging solutions:
Domestic Products Category: Hammerite Paint both curved in the middle and asymmetrical, this shaped can has grooves which provide a natural fingerhold. As result, the can is easy to hold and offers unparalleled comfort for the user.
Food Products Category: SaintMamet Fruit Salad this printed aluminium can has set a new consumer standard. With its ``bowl`` shape and Easy Peel® lid, consumers can eat their fruit salad wherever they please!
Food Products Category: Trypod® can for Petit Navire Tuna an asymmetrical can has the advantage of preserving intact, the tuna steak it contains as well as providing a stackable feature. Its peeloff lid gives easy open capability.
Food Products Category: ``I`m 18`` Easy Open End this evocative name actually refers to the gauge of metal used for the lid 0.18 mm. This represents a 20% reduction in material compared with the 0.22mm end in use in 2000, savings that are directly reflected in the canner`s costs.
The awards were received at the ceremony in Beijing by Philippe Gimenez, Impress Director of R&D, who commented, `` Recognition by the wider packaging industry is very important for us.
