OUR COLLECTIVE HISTORY
30 years ago as a manufacturer and supplier of welding machinery, primarily to the automotive industry. The company became part of the Japanese electronics group Yaskawa Electric Corporation in the mid-1990s. Motoman Robotics Europe AB head office for our European organisation is based in Kalmar, Sweden. Development and manufacturing mainly takes place in production units in Sweden and Germany.
Since Motoman started in 1976, we have steadily developed as a robot supplier. As early as 1996, we introduced a solution for controlling several robots with a single control system. This has helped us achieve our current position as the world’s leading robot manufacturer.
A UNIQUE ROBOT COMPANY
Motoman wants its customers to feel welcome and cared for. We want you to get the products you need, and we always aim to go that extra mile.
Today Motoman is an evolving company. Thanks to strong customer focus and newly developed, state-of-the-art products, we have succeeded in becoming the global market leader. This is reflected on the European market, where we have steadily increased our scope for solving customers’ automation problems by expanding our application and product portfolios. Our fastest-growing applications include palletisation, machine tending and material handling.
We will continue to develop and supply better, more efficient products and systems in collaboration with our customers. We believe that the age of general- purpose robots is over. To optimise and rationalise production, robots and software must be adapted to each unique application and industry segment. Motoman has worked in this direction for a number of years, and will do so increasingly in future. We are a unique robot company – or maybe we’re just a little more human.
THE GLOBAL LEADER
Motoman’s parent company Yaskawa Electric Corporation is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and operates throughout the world. The group has roughly 8,000 employees, and has collectively supplied and installed over 135,000 robots worldwide. A brand new production plant capable of producing up to 24,000 robots per year will open in Japan in 2006.
Today, Motoman operates in all the major European markets. In other markets, we conduct sales, distribution and support through local companies strongly linked to our Swedish parent company. Our current product range comprisesnewly developed, state-of-the-art robots that meet users’ needs and individual conditions. Combined with our long experience, customer-adapted service and capacity for supplying total solutions and systems, these products have made us the global market leader in robotic automation.
Motoman leads today’s development in application-adapted robots and robotic systems. In future, we will continue to develop and focus on being the world’s best and largest robotic supplier.
Our robots and control systems are extremely user-friendly. Control systems are PC-based and use a Windows environment. Open system architecture facilitates communication with external equipment, making all operations extremely easy to perform. Our latest programming pendant has a colour LCD touchscreen for even greater user-friendliness.
Motoman offers robots with handling capacities of 3 to 500 kgs, ranging from 4-axis processing robots to 15-axis assembly robots. To satisfy the industry’s growing demands on performance, we develop robot models that are customised to their specific application area. We are unique in the world at doing this. Our standard product range includes customised robots for operations such as welding, processing, painting and palletisation.
We conduct conscious, ongoing environmental management. Naturally, we care about the environment and adapt our products accordingly. Motoman Robotec GmbH
