BBottle Unscrambler for Automatic Sorting Out of Plastic Bottles and Tubes

This versatile machine has been designed for full-automatic sorting and positioning of plastic bottles and/or tubes. The machine stands out for flexibility, versatility and a short conversion period combined with a high speed of up to 200 bottles per minute. Many bottle types can be processed. Within 10 minutes you can quickly and easily switch to another type of bottle using only a minimal number of set parts. Therefore you will save on expensive set parts.

Method

A dosed quantity of bottles is transported from a bunker / elevator to a rotation disc. This disc with adjustable off-centre cone puts the bottles behind each other into a trough. They are then transported to the set-up department by means of gripper belts. By varying the speeds of these belts and by means of a hook the bottles are positioned and then put upright. In this position the bottles are put on a conveyor belt that is partly situated within the machine. The speed of the gripper belt equals the speed of the conveyor belt which prevents the bottles from tipping over when fed through.

The various speeds of the different motors in the bottle unscrambler can be controlled independently from the operating board on top of the machine. The width between the belts is simply and reliably adjusted by means of 2 spindles with counters. The machine can be converted to another bottle type within 10 minutes.

The maximum capacity of the machine is about 200 bottles per minute, dependent on the shape and height of the bottle.

The specifications above are for the standard bottle unscrambler and can be customized on request.

Bottle turner

For asymmetric bottles which need secondary orientation for the filler we can supply a bottle turner.

It is a turning unit with the following facilities:

  • Detection of bottle by means of photocells (Laser) or camera
  • Servo driven turning house
  • Separation by means of gripper belts
  • Stainless steel frame suited for installation above the (vacuum) belt
  • Guards with door and door switches
  • Stainless steel control box

The bottle turner is positioned above the (vacuum) belt behind the bottle unscrambler. The unit is supplied including 2 driven belts that make sure that there is enough space between the bottles for turning. The gripper belts move slower than the conveyor belt. When the bottles are no longer between the gripper belts they are accelerated by the speed of the conveyor belt so that space between the bottles is created.

The bottles are then fed through an adjustable housing. If a bottle isn’t positioned correctly on the belt it is turned 180° by means of a servomotor and transported on. The adjustment for the detection of the bottle via a photocell is very simple which minimizes setting errors. The unit is also equipped with a jamming sensor. There are no set parts needed when it is positioned above a vacuum belt.

Vacuum belt

The vacuum belt is mostly used for high capacities, sometimes in combination with a turning unit and for the processing of tall unstable bottles to prevent them from tipping.

This conveyor belt can be used both as standard conveyor belt without link chain and as vacuum belt.

The belt, made of stainless steel as pictured, has a standard length of 3 m. It can be extended according to the client’s wishes. The belt is upgraded to a vacuum belt with a side fan.

Elevator

The standard machine has a stainless steel bunker with a volume of 1.000 litres. There is a driven belt at the bottom of the bunker that transports the bottles in the direction of the elevator belt and then puts them in dosed quantities in the rotation disc of the machine. The advantages of this additional belt are that the input height is low, no arching will be created and the bunker will always be fully emptied.
