Zonar Systems, Inc., a leader in fleet Telematics applications, announced today the release of a Windows Mobile version of its Electronic Vehicle Inspection Report System, or EVIR(R). The new version will allow fleet managers to integrate the Zonar System and software with pre-existing handheld devices.
Zonar Systems revolutionized pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections by creating a dynamic verified vehicle inspection system known as EVIR(R). Vehicle inspections are captured electronically, wirelessly uploaded to secure servers, and accessed via a powerful, yet user-friendly web-based Telematics application.
Popular handheld devices can now utilize RFID tags, barcodes, or other similar technology to compel drivers to visit "zones" around the vehicle and inspect components as prompted by the device. Each scanned token creates a date and time stamp, which verifies the inspection was completed and documents the amount of time the operator spent in each zone.
"Before the release of our Windows Mobile based application, our clients were required to use our purpose-built 2010 handheld RFID reader to conduct their verified inspections," said Mike McQuade, chief technology officer for Zonar Systems. "We recognize the growing mobile resource management application space, and are excited to bring our vehicle inspection application to those customers who already have a Windows Mobile handheld solution."
The handheld application will allow operators to customize the EVIR(R) System to fit their existing hardware. Handheld devices manufactured by Symbol, Intermec, Motorola, Dell, Psion, and others are being widely utilized to track shipments, scan inventory, and automate other workflow processes. Zonar further expands the functionality of these devices with an innovative verified inspection application that dramatically increases fleet safety, security, and operational efficiency.
RFID-enabled handheld devices will seamlessly accommodate the Zonar RFID- tag-based system. Handhelds with barcode functionality will utilize ruggedized barcode "tags" placed around the vehicle in strategic inspection zones to verify inspections are completed.
"That's the way we like to do business," said Brett Brinton, president of Zonar Systems. "Many of our best ideas have come from our client's suggestions. Our business is our customers, and we draw our passion from delivering practical solutions that effectively meet their needs and exceed their expectations, time and time again."
Seattle-based Zonar Systems, Inc., is an industry leader in innovative fleet management solutions. Zonar is the world leader in verified inspection technology, and continues to be the world's fastest growing Telematics applications provider.
