MOTOMAN, the robotic division of Yaskawa Electric Corporation, reports a record year for the fiscal year 2005* in Europe, with robot volumes growing by 20% compared to the previous year. During the last fiscal year MOTOMAN obtained 25% new customers from various industries, and is strengthening its organisation to be able to serve customers and system integrators in a more focused way with competitive solutions. In 2005*, MOTOMAN saw a significant increase of its market share in Europe, and Yaskwa had an overall all-time-high year thus making MOTOMAN the world-wide number one in terms of number of robots sold.
Further, MOTOMAN has been entering new markets like Russia, Romania and Turkey, to meet the growing automation demand in these countries, which are having a boost of new manufacturing plants. In addition, MOTOMAN, who already is represented in most countries in Europe, emphasises that its offerings covers a wide rage of robotic solutions suitable for most industries and applications, including extensive service offerings.
Order intake for 2006** has started in a very positive way as well, and with the launch of a new generation of humanlike robots, MOTOMAN is meeting an increased demand for robotized machine tending, assembly and material handling operations and is thereby optimistic to further expand the business. The new unique robots, the seven- axis MOTOMAN-IA20 and the 13-axis dual-arm MOTOMAN-DA20 both with 20 kg payload, are perfectly designed for these tasks imitating the performance of the human arm. MOTOMAN is the first company to introduce such robots on the European market, and by taking the conventional industrial robot one step further MOTOMAN is aiming to give traditional robot users even more effective and innovative robot solutions as well as reaching out to new customer segments and new application fields.
