It’s a proof of excellent service to tailor specific solutions that contribute to customer’s success and convincing performance of his products on the marketplace. This may be a revolutionary development or a seeming small improvement of existing products. It has always been BERICAP’s self-understanding to strengthen the appearance of branded articles in the shelves. Regarding automotive products  this is mainly achieved by offering a variety of solutions for a given neck enabling the brand owner to select the appropriate closure out of a family range.  But you can always improve ….

Recently BP/CASTROL Europe, employing the 40mm neck as a standard for many years making use of the SK 40/24 PV PE and the TSV 40, was asking for a retractable spout for the latter. Originally the TSV 40 PV flexible spout pourer was intended to be pulled up for the first use. Extendable flexible spout pourers in general would remain extended afterwards which wouldn’t be a disadvantage in some cases as the content is poured completely in one drain and the bottle is simply disposed in the end. Only the BERICAP telescopic rigid tube pourers were retractable (SVT 38/23 PV). For some applications like fork oil (motorbikes), automatic transmission fluid (ATF) and 2-stroke engine (gear oils, outboarders and lown movers)  an retractable flexible pouring spout was requested by BP/Castrol.

To meet BP/CASTROL’s requirement for space savings by retractability the TSV 40 PV “Short Spout” flexible spout pourer has been developed. The pack now can be stored in motorcyclists bags in “compact condition” which is an remarkable advantage.

To make this happen it was necessary to shorten the spout reducing the push-pull force. The new cap has identical outer dimensions and hence avoids adjustments of the capper.

The extended length is 89,50 mm which is a reduction by 28,50 mm compared to the standard. The pouring diameter of 8,9 mm was kept constant. Both versions will be available in the future. The customer may opt for maximum length of the spout or its retractability.

In general, consumer convenience and enhanced quality requirements need this type of cap or as an alternative the telescopic SVT 38/23 PV. Access to the feed openings in modern cars gets more and more difficult. Precise and spill-free pouring without a funnel is nearly impossible. It is an advantage of our products that this aid is an integral part of the cap. Additionally, some products such as power steering oil have to be provided in a very clean condition which prohibits the use of large outlet diameters helping contamination of the system which is sensitive to pollution and humidity. Dragging particles from the environment and vapour intake by hygroscopic goods must be reduced to the minimum.

For that reason a continuous reworking and updating of the product range is an ongoing challenge. The improved telescopic cap SVT 37,5 currently being under development is coming soon ….
