A thermoforming machine that produces packages with a rolled edge, just like a prefabricated tray: With LipFORM, Multivac presents an absolute innovation. This “tray-volution” in thermoforming technology is an economically interesting alternative to prefabricated trays and adds a new aspect compared to conventional thermoform packages.
Functional and economical LipFORM combines the efficiency and low packaging costs of the thermoforming process with the look and feel of preformed trays. The packages look exactly like prefabricated trays, including the inline cut. But as for the manufacturing process, LipFORM offers the benefits of Multivac thermoforming technology, namely low material costs, simpler handling and lower storage expenses. That means the customers receive the best parts of both kinds of packaging in one solution.
The LipFORM package is formed with heat and pressure from a web off a roll. The storage and stacking of trays is eliminated, which simplifies handling and saves space. Furthermore, the process offers a high degree of flexibility: The shape and outline of the package can be chosen almost entirely freely, from traditional rectangular or square solutions to round or asymmetrical shapes.PP web also usable There are practically no restrictions on the selected film material: The LipFORM machine can process all standard synthetic materials, including PP mono or PP barrier. Then the packages are microwaveable – just like prefabricated trays.
The difference to conventional thermoforming consists in the rolled edge, an absolutely new kind of landmark in this technology. It imparts the look and feel of a prefabricated tray to the package. The details of the rolled edge – width, depth, and tilt angle – can be chosen. LipFORM can be produced on thermoforming machines of the type R 550 or R 250, Multivac models with a top lift and a chain-led top web. Outputs of 120 packages per minute and more are possible.
