On 12 May 2006, the Körber Group takes over the carton manufacturing business of US packaging materials specialist H.S. Crocker Corp. Inc. in Philadelphia. The division specialises in the development and production of folding cartons for the pharmaceutical industry, which generates 90 per cent of sales. At the same time, the business will be continued with the existing 30 employees by Rondo-Pak Inc. in Valley Forge (Philadelphia).
Rondo-Pak is a fully owned subsidiary of Rondo AG (Allschwil, Switzerland).
Gerhard Breu, CEO of the KÖRBER MEDIPAK Group, has this to say about the acquisition: “This acquisition reflects the Körber Group’s consistent expansion of its systems business in the pharma packaging area, especially in the USA, the world’s largest pharma market.”
The Körber Group brings together Rondo AG (Allschwil, Switzerland), Dividella AG (Grabs, Switzerland) and MediSeal GmbH (Schloss Holte, Germany) under the umbrella brand name of Körber Medipak, the world’s only systems provider for pharma packaging systems. The Group offers comprehensive packaging and automation solutions from a single source: the MediSeal company is well known as a specialist in blister and edge-seal sachet machines and cartoners; Dividella handles the development and manufacture of machines for fully automated packaging of parenteral pharma products. Rondo is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of standard and special paperboard packs for the pharmaceutical industry.
The Körber Group, an international engineering group with more than 30 companies in the tobacco, paper, tissue and hygiene technology and machine tool sectors, generates worldwide sales of more than 1.5 billion euros and employs approximately 8,900 people.
