In a move to advance enterprise integration of packaging supply chain information for the generic pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, artwork management pioneer Perigord Group today showcased the integration of SAP feeds into its winning GL-AMS artwork management solution. Now, GL-AMS customers with SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems can view packaging project information from anywhere within the enterprise and GL-AMS can integrate essential enterprise information such as details on inventory, product lifecycle, marketing and more. As a result, managers have better information when it comes to important decision-making on all things packaging related.

“GL-AMS makes the generic pharmaceutical manufacturer smarter,” explains Alan Leamy, Chief Executive Officer, Perigord Group. “GL-AMS integration of SAP feeds provides real time intelligence on a wider array of important criteria than ever before possible and so managers are better equipped to make the correct decision on a range of packaging and artwork management challenges.”

Like many industries where the product offering and the markets are especially complex and the research, manufacturing and marketing supply chains are typically fractured, generic drug manufacturing gains significant control and information integrity advantages from ERP software platforms, such as those offered by SAP and other providers. Previously, SAP ERP for Life Sciences was limited to financial controlling, materials management, production planning, and sales and distribution but now with the addition of SAP feeds for GL-AMS, generic drug manufacturers gain significantly better information and control on artwork management. GL-AMS also advances transparency; optimization of value-added services and reduces costs.

Leamy noted, “SAP provides clients in a wide array of businesses with a comprehensive enterprise backbone complemented by a range of industry-specific appliances that make the businesses more communicative, more efficient - and ultimately more successful. GL-AMS is an SAP accelerant that takes market-customization a step further, providing the generic pharmaceutical industry with intelligence and collaboration tools that speed time-to-market, reduce risk and enhance efficiency!”

GL-AMS provides a range of customer benefits including: time savings that eliminate delays for signed off proofs, ownership with electronic signatures that provide an audit trail and accountability, control that allows users to stop and start production to suit manufacturing capacities or last minute regulatory changes, compliance that is developed in line with GMP and FDA guidelines, flexibility that provides new or temporary outsource vendors with controlled access to artwork collateral when capacity is an issue, and real-time decision making made possible by the fact that the entire system solution is hosted from the Internet. All of the above can be achieved with input on a global scale to eliminate the need for decision makers to be in house via Secure Remote Web Access.
