Asda, Wal-Mart's largest overseas subsidiary, is saving £13 million this year by cutting back on food packaging. It’s a win-win situation as, apparently, the savings translate into price cuts for customers. Asda has already cut the price of a four-pint milk bottle by 15p.
In order to curb counterfeiting, vintner Ann Colgin has turned to high-tech fraud prevention. She signed a deal with Eastman Kodak Co. on a system that employs invisible markers added to inks.
