Our newsletter sponsor this week is MHT, specialists in PET mold and hotrunners.

Sidel launched ‘Nobottle’, the lightest PET bottle for storing water, which maximizes shelf appeal and minimizes environmental impact. The key behind its success is its sleek appearance and the fact that it’s lighter than air.

One apparently doesn’t need a cork opener anymore to open wine bottles. Corks are slowly being replaced with screw caps, which accounts for 17.5% of wine sales according to wine.com.

Wal-Mart Canada refuses to sell products in excess packaging and has announced that it will use its influence in changing manufacturing, packaging, and consumerism for the better.

Author Martin Horrocks
Company Milliken and Company
Synopsis

The soft drink market is fiercely competitive and packaging is the key to driving demand and choice. In the past, labeling and bottle shape have been the components used to catch the eye of the consumer. Until recently, the closure had served as dead space with white being the consistent color.
