The proposed tax on disposable and hard-to-recycle packaging, has been slammed by the Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment (Incpen), which called the research in favor of the tax, faulty.
Incpen was responding to the report, ‘A Zero Waste UK’, from the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) and the Green Alliance, which calls for the government to tax disposable and hard-to-recycle products, such as drinks cartons and throw-away cameras.
“Most products are packed in the minimum amount of protection to meet the needs of transport, hygiene, storage and display,” Incpen said.
