Risdon International Inc., a primary packaging components to the cosmetics industry, has received a certificate of approval from the People's Republic of China to build a manufacturing facility in this country.
The green field plant will produce metal cosmetics packaging components.“When Risdon opened its Shanghai office just four months ago, we said Risdon would be making immediate inroads into China and emphasized that Risdon had China firmly in its strategic plans for future expansion,” said Eric Bigotte, Risdon executive vice president of sales and marketing. “This license to build in China is proof of that promise. It is a major turning point in Risdon's long and illustrious history and sets the stage for our expanding into additional markets in the months ahead.” The certificate of approval gives Risdon permission to begin construction of the new plant that will start shipping pieces in November 2007. Risdon plans to transfer its metal plating machinery, existing tooling and engineering support to the new facility once the green field site is prepared for operations in September 2007.
Risdon supplies including fragrance and cosmetics caps and closures, compacts, eye care products, lipsticks and lip gloss. The company has five manufacturing facilities in North America: Middletown, New York; Watertown, Connecticut; Laconia, New Hampshire; Barrie, Ontario; and Reynosa, Mexico. Besides its Watertown corporate headquarters, Risdon has an office in Shanghai, China.
