Turner Duckworth, an independent brand identity and package design firm with offices in London and San Francisco, was awarded the first ever Design Grand Prix at the prestigious Cannes Lions last week.The award was presented for Turner Duckworth's redesign of the Coca-Cola logo and visual identity.
"It was simply the best piece of work in the entire collection," said Rodney Fitch, head of the design jury and chairman/CEO of design company Fitch. Jurors lauded Turner Duckworth's "iconization of heritage" for a major multinational brand.
"We set out to help re-establish Coke as a design leader. We are delighted to receive this recognition," said David Turner, co-founder of Turner Duckworth.
Katie Bayne, Coca-Cola North America's Chief Marketing Officer, replied,"Thank you for seeing the brand for what it really is and helping us understand all it can be."
Turner Duckworth also won a Gold Lion for Coke's new Aluminum Bottle."You only need see a slice of the Coca-Cola logo to know it," said Bruce Duckworth. "The bottle shape remains unmistakable even in a new material. The result is package design that feels at once familiar and new." |
