About Us

Omicron Pharma was founded by a team of private investors.

In March 2001 the company received the first approval from the Italian MoH for production and packaging of pharmaceutical products. The company was initially located in an industrial building (Via Follereau25, Nembro- Italy). In August 2005 a second building, located in Viale Lombardia 8/C, Nembro- Italy, was added. This new building is directly connected to the fist one.

At the present in the oldest building are located the manufacturing department and the Pharmaceutical Development Lab., while in the new one there are packaging departments and Quality Control Lab.

Development and Quality Control

Development

The development Labs cover an area of 120 sqm and are split in two separate units:

• Pharmaceutical development
• Analytical development

The pharmaceutical development is arranged in two main labs and activities:

• Lab scale lab
• Pilot scale lab

The Pilot Lab is equipped with machineries often in geometrical scale with that available in production and always able to reproduce the industrial processes.

The Analytical Development Lab is equipped with all the instruments required to develop new analytical methods (GLC, HPLC, UV, FTIR, Dissolution test etc.) and cooperates with external structures for analytical techniques not available in house.

Quality Control

Quality Control labs cover an area of 200 sqm. All the internal manufactured products are carefully tested by our labs where well trained personnel have the equipment required for all the common pharmaceutical analyses.

The following instruments are routinely used:

• UV spectrophotometer
• FTIR spectrophotometer
• TLC
• GLC
• HPLC
• Dissolution

The in-process control lab carries out the following tests:

• Disintegration
• Friability
• Hardness
• Thickness
• Statistical weight evaluation

Production and Packaging

Production and packaging cover an area of 1700 sqm. At the present Omicron Pharma produces:

• Tablets
• Film coated tablets
• Sugar coated tablets
• Hard gelatin capsules packaged in blister and in glass or plastic bottles
• Ointments
• Gels

They are packaged in aluminum or plastic cans.

Omicron has agreements with other pharmaceutical companies for production of other oral and parenteral dosage forms.

Production of Oral Dosage Forms

The production has two granulation area for dry and granulation equipped with:

• Blenders from 50 to 1000 liters
• Dry granulators
• Wet granulators
• Drying oven
• Fluid bed

The tabletting and capsules filling department has:

• 5 tabletting machines
• 1 capsules filling machine

The coating department has:

• Coating pans from 70 to 300 liters
• Automatic sprying systems (for aqueous film only)

The packaging department has:

• 3 blistering unit for PVC-PVDC/Alu
• 1 blistering unit for Alu/Alu
• 1 bottle filling line

The semisolid department is equipped with:

• 300 liters turboemulsifier
• 1 automatic packaging line
