Bosch Packaging Technology combines its decades of experience in bar mass production and packaging to offer one-stop, customized solutions for the production of confectionery, muesli and cereal bars. Part of this technology is the new Contiline bar forming system incorporating innovative developments for the forming, cooling, fanning-out, cutting and coating of bars.

Bosch's know-how in bar produduction encompasses the entire technological spectrum of boiling, mixing, shaping, cooling, longitudinal and cross cutting, fanning-out and coating. Applications range from soft candy and aerated pastes to various dry mixtures such as cereals, granola, nuts and fruit.

With its new Contiline bar forming system Bosch presents a dual-roller-former. The machine prepares the bar mass to be fed in and carefully smoothes it down to a flat layer. In the cutting area the Contiline produces not just regular rectangular-cut products but also shaped bars with unique profiles. A new fanning-out system positions freshly cut bars in a crosswise direction in order to prevent the lateral cut surfaces from sticking together while simultaneously achieving the optimum distance between the bars for the coating process. After fanning-out, the cross-cutting machine cuts the ropes into individual bars. Two separate servo axes guide the cutting knife for optimal cutting quality. The integrated quick-release system ensures easy and fast access without tools to all component machines of the Contiline for maintenance and cleaning operations.

Due to their flexibility and easy accessibility, Bosch Packaging Technology systems allow fast quantity and product changeovers. End products maintain constant quality and consistency. While developing customized solutions for bar producers, Bosch considers the effects on the entire production chain, from dosing to palletizing. In its own in-house laboratory, the technology center in Viersen (Germany), Bosch undertakes boiling and shaping experiments and produces product samples.
