National Adhesives, a world leader in adhesive technology, has announced the launch of CONTOUR, a hot melt system which enables shrink labelling of curved containers using existing roll fed machines. The CONTOUR system can significantly increase line speeds and cut production costs compared with conventional shrink sleeve labelling systems.
The roll-fed label is applied to the bottle using the unique CONTOUR hot melt and the label is immediately shrunk around the bottle using a heat tunnel. The unique CONTOUR technology ensures resistance to the heat in the shrink tunnel so the container-adhesive-label bond is not weakened. And, for maximum flexibility, CONTOUR technology can be used on contoured bottles made from glass, HDPE and PET. Depending on a number of parameters, CONTOUR will achieve up to 50% shrink.
The CONTOUR adhesive forms a secure bond at the seam and will not flag or creep during labelling and shrinking. Using CONTOUR, many different film label stocks can be used to achieve the required appearance and shrinkage, and no capital investment is required on new machinery. Using CONTOUR can cut costs by up to 40% of the costs usually associated with sleeve labelling.
“Our focus at National Adhesives is developing solutions which not only look great, preserving the brand integrity, but which also cut customer’s production costs,” commented Gerard Ten Bolscher, Marketing Manager Europe, National Adhesives. “CONTOUR is a great solution for effective shrink wrapping which will also save our customer’s money.”
