At the Seafood Processing Europe trade show 2007, Multivac is presenting an overview of its advanced concepts for fish and seafood packaging. At the Multivac booth in hall 4 stand 5211 the visitors can learn about solutions for their individual business requirements. The company, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of packaging machines, is also exhibiting its solution for producing skin packages on tray sealers.

“For fresh but also deep frozen fish and seafood, packaging is increasing drastically, and, answering to a tough competition in the market, packs are becoming more and more sophisticated,“ notes Bernard Leveau, General Director of Multivac France and associate member of the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN).

“Especially modified atmosphere packages have an increasing importance since the special gas filling prevents germination and extends the shelf-life of the susceptible products considerably.“ Bernard Leveau states a second advantage of advanced packaging: „Packaging offers very interesting possibilities for attractively presenting a product at the point of sale.

For instance, a skin package highlights the packed product by fitting tight around it like a second skin. This emphasizes a highquality product impression.“Having a long experience in producing skin packages on thermoforming machines, Multivac has recently brought its skin packaging expertise to its entire range of tray sealers, for all production volumes and all possible tray sizes. As an example of that, the company is presenting this solution as implemented on the T250, a new semi-automatic tray sealer. With its large tray format and automatic infeed of tray drawer, it allows for a performance near to that of fully automatic entry-level systems. The second example is the fully automatic T350, a compact tray sealer equipped with a continuous infeed conveyor and a tray transfer system.

The wide range of Multivac thermoforming machines is represented by the R140, a fully automatic machine taking up only 3 m² of space and being simple to operate. Finally, the company is presenting a choice of its comprehensive range of vacuum chamber machines: the large chamber machine C400 and the double chamber machine C500.
