 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

WORLD-BEAM QS30 Laser Sensors

The diffuse model features a visible laser beam for superior ease of alignment and long-range sensing capabilities. It is an easy-to-use, high-performance laser sensor whose many configuration options make it suitable for demanding applications. Its sensing ranges are 400 mm for Class 2, and 700 mm for Class 2. Its unique optical design also permits use through transparent walls for hopper or view-port applications and accurate feature detection. It can also be used for edge detection, end of material detection or overheight identification.  The retroreflective models have an extremely small, tightly collimated laser sensing beam of 4 mm or less, allowing for precise sensing at ranges up to 18 m. It can detect target smaller than the sensing beam.

 APPLICATION

- Robot Location: An automated picking robot moves horizontally and vertically along the racks in a warehouse, picking boxes. The robot uses two WORLD-BEAM QS30 laser sensors to determine its X,Y coordinates: one on the base of the robot detects each vertical support of the rack, and the other mounted on the robot`s moving platform detects each horizontal support.

- Label Verification: On a dairy product packaging line, after a barcode reader identifies the base container product a PresencePLUS P4 GEO recalls the proper lid inspection file and performs a 360 degree inspection to verify containers with correct lids and reject containers with incorrect lids.

- Thread Hole Detection: From a distance of up to 800 mm, the WORLD-BEAM QS30`s narrow laser beam detects whether a hole in the manifold is threaded.
