Easy Peel® ends have an ever-widening range of applications in dry foods and can be used for metal, plastic and composite cans. The peelable end is a familiar, consumer-friendly system associated with chilled and fresh products, and provides a total barrier against water, oxygen and light. The ends have the lowest opening force on the market and are easily opened by all consumers, young and old. At the same time they have high resistance to hydraulic shock and remain intact against forces which can cause conventional ends to come open.
Vacuum filling and gas flushing is possible, where required, for oxygen-sensitive products. An over pressure valve is available for coffee. The tab is held in place by a special design called the `Tab-Fix` and which is under patent. This keeps the tab in position during filling and transport and avoids the need for a gluing operation.
All diameters are available in small quantities for qualification and can be printed for test marketing.

Impress pioneered the use of Easy Peel® ends for retorted foods in the late 1990`s. Their integrity and shelf life performance is now clearly proven and the technology is being applied to a widening range of food products, such as ready meals and fruit salads, and on different can shapes and sizes. Easy Peel® ends have a strong shelf presence and deliver a familiar opening system associated with fresh and chilled products. They have excellent printability for promotions and brand accentuation and embossing can be used to add additional impact to the finished product.
These ends have the lowest opening force on the market and are easily opened by all consumers, young and old alike. As well as providing the easy grip to open the end, the tab, which is being patented, has a unique design (the Tab-Fix) which holds it firmly in place during processing and handling where glue (not being resistant to immersion in hot water) would fail. Easy Peel® ends use conventional double-seaming technology, a robust and time-honoured system which ensures product safety. They require counter-pressure retorting and only minor adjustments to existing filling and closing systems. We provide a complete technical service to facilitate the conversion from standard cans to Easy Peel®, covering filling, seaming, retorting and handling.
This is a growth area providing differentiation in the market place. Small production quantities can be produced for test marketing.
