At IFFA 2007, Multivac is introducing the first model of the new generation of Multivac thermoforming machines. The focus is on a completely new basic design that adds another dimension in economy and efficiency to the already strict hygiene standard of the Multivac machines. The hygiene concept consistently includes all areas, on the outside and inside: assurance of hygiene can only be achieved if there are no weak points in the cleaning process.
The new design simplifies and accelerates the cleaning procedures, and this not only in the visible components but also the internal parts, all the way into critical areas, such as the chain and chain guide. That is presently unique at such a scope. This is supported by a partially automatic cleaning process. It allows the machines to be cleaned quickly and efficiently, maintaining a high grade of hygiene even with heavy usage. In addition, there have been improvements in the ergonomics, such as in the format change, along with an IPC control system with new options. At IFFA, visitors can experience the machine in action and inform themselves about the details.
The other revolution is a “tray-volution”: LipFORM – thermoformed packages, but with a rolled edge, just as in a prefabricated tray. The production through the Multivac thermoforming process simplifies the handling and reduces the material and storage costs. At the same time, LipFORM offers the appearance of prefabricated trays, including the online cut. This machine will be shown in action at the trade show in connection with the entire line, with a filling unit by Handtmann and transfer unit by Weber – two leading companies with whom Multivac has previously implemented projects.
Shrink and skin packages will occupy a large area of the trade booth – these are product areas in which the company has been the market leader for decades. The skin technology can now also be implemented with the entire traysealer range by Multivac, whereby all skin trays available on the market can be processed. Multivac has been offering the thermoformed Darfresh skin packages for many years in an exclusive cooperation with Cryovac Sealed Air.
In the area of shrink packaging, Multivac has developed the innovative FormShrink process in cooperation with Krehalon, which is based on thermoforming technology and is ideally suited for the automation of packaging with large product quantities. One solution for high-volume products is the new shrink line, which can be seen in action at the trade booth: the conveyor belt machine B 400 with a coordinated shrink tank SE 130 and drying unit TE 130.
Multivac will also introduce new solutions for companies with smaller packaging capacities, such as the semi-automatic traysealer T250 with an enlarged sealing surface for higher performance, the smallest “real Multivac” thermoforming machine R120, and several vacuum chamber machines that are simple to operate.
