Drent Goebel is known not just for its bold and innovative designs. The first modularly built shaftless Vision printing press came off the Drent Goebel drawing board just as the groundbreaking VSOP technology did this century.

But Drent Goebel is much more than a successful breeding ground for new technology. ‘Had we been just a laboratory, we could never have kept up the pace of innovation our customers require of us,’ says Rob Schellekens, Drent Goebel’s director marketing & sales.

Drent Goebel has shown storming autonomous growth as well as growth resulting from acquisitions of companies with an outstanding track record.

On the move
Schellekens: ‘No-one will have failed to notice that we are constantly on the move. We make the most of changing market conditions and seize opportunities as soon as they materialise. In addition, we are aiming to be more radical in increasing the professionalism of our organisation. We want to be in partnership with our existing and future customers. The marketing department pays more than lip service to proactive joint thinking, one of the building blocks of our business philosophy.’

One name
The Drent Goebel name is known around the world, thinks Schellekens. ‘We have been using this name for five years now. Nowadays all our locations, wherever they may be in the world, do business under the name of ‘Drent Goebel’. This includes RDP Marathon, which has been re-named to ‘Drent Goebel North America Inc.’ as of January 1st 2006.

Markets
Drent Goebel concentrates on offering hybrid printing technology for three markets: commercial printing, packaging printing and security printing. Schellekens: ‘These markets place the highest demands on knowledge of print technology and skills using hybrid technology. At Drent Goebel we have this knowledge and these skills in house and will be delighted to share them with our contacts.

Who is covered by the Drent Goebel umbrella?

Drent Goebel is growing and growing. An overview of the companies that are among the most innovative machinery manufacturers in the world under the Drent Goebel umbrella;
Drent Goebel headquarters is based in Eerbeek, located centrally in the Netherlands, around a hundred kilometers east of Amsterdam. Drent Goebel was established there by Mr Drent under the name of Drent Graphic Machines. Development of the latest printing technologies is done in Eerbeek. Drent Goebel’s turnover is in excess of 100 million euros. Around 400 employees are dedicated to customers throughout the world.

Drent Goebel GmbH
Drent Goebel GmbH is located in Darmstadt, Germany and has been in existence since 1851. Drent and Goebel have been collaborating since 2001. A first-class combination: Drent with its highly innovative nature and Goebel with its long history of proven engineering quality. The collaboration yielded instant results, witness the VSOP, the introduction of which at Ipex in 2002 was a great success.

Acquisition of Giebeler
Established in Langenfeld, Germany in 1927, Giebeler was acquired in 2003. This press manufacturer also enjoyed an outstanding reputation and is renowned for its dependable machinery designs.

Drent Goebel North America Inc.
The most recent acquisition is that of RDP Marathon based in Montreal, Canada in August 2005. As of 1 January the name RDP was officially changed to Drent Goebel North America Inc. RDP Marathon served the Canadian and US markets with sales and service of heavy build commercial printing presses, including high end blanket to blanket heatset perfectors.

The company supplies a series of printing presses which incorporate combinations of commonly used printing techniques. Gravure, flexo, waterless and offset printing techniques hold no secrets for this thoroughbred press manufacturer. RDP Marathon is known above all for its reliable and durable machine construction.

Trend Graphic Services
Trend Graphic Services, located within the Drent Goebel headquarters in Eerbeek, was established in 1996 as it became evident that reconditioning of printing presses was such a specialised task that it was better done by an organisation fully dedicated to this field.

Trend purchases used presses, refurbishes them to new condition and customise them to the customer’s wishes if so desired. As a fully-fledged sister company of Drent Goebel, Trend has access to all original drawings, materials and knowledge of all Drent, Goebel, Giebeler and RDP Marathon machines.
