User-Friendly Packaging Format Receives Dutch Gouden Noot Innovation Award

CROWN Speciality Packaging, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:CCK) (Crown) (www.crowncork.com), has extended the Clipper Can^TM System range to include several new sizes. The innovative system, designed to enhance the convenience of paint and coating packaging, is now available in 500ml, 750ml, 1-, 2.5-, 5-, 10-, 15-, and 20 liter sizes. Crown developed the smaller containers for brands serving the household DIY market.

Specially-designed Clipper Can^TM Systems are also available for industrial use, where safety is a must. The 5 liter size complies with regulations for the transport of dangerous goods. Additional sizes from 10 to 20 liters are under development.

Created in partnership with Corus, the Clipper Can^TM System features a plastisol-lined metal lid with easy-grip tabs for safe opening by hand, eliminating the need for extra tooling. In addition to this easy-open convenience, the Clipper Can^TM System offers functional tamper indication and closes more securely than traditional packaging methods, reducing the threat of leakage during transport, distribution and storage.

Compatible with all types of indoor and outdoor paints, varnishes and coatings, the Clipper Can^TM System is compatible with existing machinery and is suitable for "mix-your-own-color" paint systems.

Crown’s innovative package was recently recognized with the Silver prize at the Netherlands-based Gouden Noot Awards. Organized by the Dutch Packaging Center (NVC) in Utrecht during Macropak, the country’s largest packaging exhibition, the ceremony honored the most innovative packaging launched on the market in the past two years.
