Overwrapping MACHINES
Overwrapping machines, otherwise known as cellophane or cello wrappers, form the backbone of the products supplied. Ranging from medium speed, low cost, 40 packs per minute wrappers up to high speed 300 packs per minute turret wrapping machines Marden Edwards offers a complete portfolio of Overwrapping capability.
STRETCH WRAPPING MACHINES
Stretch wrapping machines, or tight wrappers as they are sometimes known, complement the range of Overwrapping machines. Available with a wrapping film width up to 1 metre, stretch wrapping machines collate and band wrap products with the minimum of change part tooling and change over time producing packs for distribution purposes.
SHRINK WRAPPING MACHINES
Marden Edwards offers a comprehensive range of shrink wrap machines for display wrapping, ranging from chamber L sealers for low speed operation up to 120 per minute mailing systems. For transit shrink wrapping a complete range is again offered, ranging from manual two reel sleeve wrappers up to high speed travelling jaw models.
PRODUCT HANDLING SYSTEMS
Almost as important as the wrapping machine itself is the product handling systems required to feed the packaging machines and then to convey the wrapped product to the next stage of the production process. Star wheel re-orienting devices, external collating devices, buffer stores, shelf ready loading systems and transfer units are just some of the product handling systems that Marden Edwards has manufactured. Over 40 years of pack handling expertise ensures that Marden Edwards delivers the correct handling system for each application.

Confectionery Wrapping
Wrapping of confectionery products and cartons ensures that the consumer knows that the product has not been tampered with since it left the factory. The wrap also provides a near hermetic seal to improve the shelf life. Tear tape application ensures that the pack is easy open.
Cosmetics and Fragrances
To enhance the high quality of the product, the cosmetics packaging needs to be perfect. The overwrap needs to be perfect in every detail to ensure that a gift wrapped presentation is produced. In addition, the wrap performs the traditional function of ensuring that the product inside has not been tampered with since leaving the factory. Marden Edwards knows what is expected for the cosmetics industry and designs its perfume wrapping machines to suit the industry.
Food
Biscuits, cakes and cereal products all benefit from wrapping, either to protect the individual pack or to create a distribution or retail multipack. Creating as air tight a seal as possible is crucial to ensuring the longest possible shelf life for the product.
Optical Media
Overwrapping has become the standard form of packaging for individual CDs, DVDs and now retail multipacks of blank CDs and DVDs. The use of tear tape to enable easy opening and printed film to promote the product are both features that Marden Edwards is well used to supplying. Line speeds ranging from 40 to 130 individual DVDs per minute can be handled on the wide range of Marden Edwards packaging equipment.
Paper and Board
Ranging from reams of paper to individual memo pads, envelopes and playing cards, the paper and printing industries form a large part of Marden Edwards’ wrapping machine production. Utilising either shrink wrapping or Overwrapping machines as required by the customer Marden Edwards has wrapping equipment to suit all speed requirements for all paper and print products.
Pharmaceutical and Healthcare
Overwrapping is not only used for the collation and wrapping of blister packs but also healthcare products such as distribution packs of toothpaste and medicines in tubes. In addition, medical devices such as sutures, pregnancy testing kits and contact lenses are overwrapped to prove to the consumer that tampering has not taken place. The low heat requirements of Overwrapping make it an ideal way to package health sensitive materials. Marden Edwards produces ranges of machines suitable for both individual and multipacks.
Tea and Coffee
Overwrapping ensures the freshness and locks in the aroma and flavour of both tagged tea boxes and loose tea alike. Marden Edwards has worked with the tea industry for many years and the result is a range of machines which run at high line speeds but still maintain the versatility of a large size range, enabling a 25 count tea bag box to run on the same machine as the 240 count.
Tobacco
Not only are cartons of 200 cigarettes overwrapped but increasingly the individual packs are collated and film wrapped without the need for the carton. Marden Edwards has been supply wrapping machinery for collating and wrapping, both in film and paper, for many years. Marketing changes have dictated the need for 40s, 60 and 80s collator wrappers as well as 400s, 600s and 800s for duty free sales. The Marden Edwards range can accommodate all these requirements as well as serving the cigar and rolling tobacco industries.
