Blankedale started in 1965 as a small-scale project with 6 employees with the initiative of the Flemish Association for assisting the Mentally Handicapped. Today it has evolved into a sheltered workshop with 840 employees and operations spread over 3 sites with 11 divisions. Sheltered Workshop for People with Reduced Capabilities Blankedale provides employment to people with various reduced capabilities, providing a variety of contract work. Blankedale is subsidized by the Flemish Fund for Social Integration of Handicapped Persons.
