US diversified packaging company Sonoco Products Co said it has received early antitrust clearance from the Federal Trade Commission and the US Justice Department's Antitrust division for the acquisition of Matrix Packaging Inc.
Sonoco said last week it would buy Matrix, a Canadian maker of custom designed blow molded rigid plastic containers and injected molded products, for 210 mln usd cash.
The deal is expected to close by June 1.
