In a move to up-date the iconic image of IRN BRU, Alcan packaging has been working closely with AG Barr, a Scottish company specialising in soft drinks, to deliver a stunning new look for their leading brand- without loosing the product’s identity or links to its heritage.
As part of the packaging’s re-design, AG Barr opted to move away from traditional paper labels in favour of a modern film alternative. This decision results from the film’s ability to offer a better finished print quality, superior pack durability and improved cost efficiencies.
Produced on six-colour, Flexo printed white label film, and metallised label film for the DIET option, the new look labels offer striking on-shelf appeal through the use of bold colours and glossy finishes.
Deborah Clarke, Technical Manager, AG Barr, said: “The decision to work with Alcan Packaging on the IRN BRU re-design was an easy one. The company offers the expertise and exacting standards needed to produce the overall look and quality AG Barr required. Further more, it has the scale and experience to identify improved cost efficiency options – such as the move to film labels.”
Peter McAleavey, Account Manager, Alcan Packaging, said: "We’re delighted to have been given the opportunity to work on the re-design with AG Barr. The company welcomed our input from an early stage, allowing us to provide our technical expertise and support resulting in the best possible finish. AG Barr is a new customer to Alcan Packaging, with whom we have established an excellent relationship which we’re confident will continue.” Alcan Packaging
