Colin Hatton set up his own consultancy in 1993 after having spent 22 years with HMSO (UK Government printer & supplier of stationery to government departments) in its laboratories. Working in areas of quality and specifications related jobs, covering paper, print, repo, stationery and security. To ensure that he gives his clients the best & up to date knowledge he undertook the MSc in Packaging Technology at Brunel University in the UK. As well as paid work, Colin is a member of two BSI (British Standards Institute) committees & on the CEN TC 172 (European) & ISO TC6 plus SC’s (International) Paper board & Pulp test committees, as a UK rep. He is also chairman of a local branch (like a USA chapter) of the UK Inst of Pkg, on the National Council of IOP and on committees of IOP.
As well as giving advice he uses his skills to supply a niche model product “MODELSTRIP” to the UK model trade for over 20 years keeping it up to date as packaging legislation increases. This makes sure he knows what pressures suppliers face.
