Professional expertise.
A number of jobs enabled me to add financial, organisational, marketing and strategic expertise to my initial baggage.
Then in 1993, I faced for the first time packaging and the implementation in national legislation of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive. Indeed, that is when I started to challenge, for COCKERILL SAMBRE, the Belgian national steel for packaging producer, and in co-operation with the other industries of the chain, involved in packaging, the recycling goals the Belgian legislator was asking industry to meet. The industry in a united approach has been successful in achieving those goals. Organizations, such as FOST PLUS, VALORLUX, STALUPACK, and VAL-I-PAC were born and I took, as board member, at the time, an active role in all of these. Since November 1999, I am Director General of APEAL, the Association of European Steel for Packaging producers, located in Brussels. Though my involvement in packaging remains complete, I have moved from a national to a European level of commitment.
